Bernie Mev Bernie Mev footwear is taking the shoe industry by storm. Bernie Mev started in the footwear industry in the 1960s, with a factory located in the Bronx, making shoes for big department stores and major retailers. In 2000, Bernie met Itamar Carmi who owned a retail business with five locations in the New York area. Itamar brought his vision to life of a shoe with an expandable, handwoven, elastic upper with a memory foam foot bed. Itamar and his wife choose all of the fabrics and design all of the innovative color combinations and patterns in a wide array of shoe styles from heels, wedges, mules to walking shoes, sandals and ballerina flats.
